IKEA chest of drawers upcycle

This project was all about minimum effort, maximum impact!

The first step was to remove the drawer handles, disguise in the holes with wood filler, sand down the entire thing then get to the fun part!

I bought some half circle dowels from Amazon and cut them down to the length of the drawers. I spaced out the dowels using narrow bit of straight wood I found lying around to keep things consistent. I stuck the dowels on using a bonding agent called ‘Sticks Like Sh*t’ (lol).

This part took a longgg time, because I used very thin dowels with narrow spacing. But after persevering, getting bored and frustrated then coming back to it later, I got there in the end!

Once the bonding agent was dry, I primed everything ready for painting. I found some all-purpose black satin-finish paint in the shed and added two coats.

I added some gold overhang handles to the tops of the drawers, and that was the upcycle finished!
